I feel that reading is one of our most essential skills in life.  Students will have to read, keep track of their reading in a journal, and make at least ten Accelerated Reading points per nine weeks. If they go over the ten points, they will have the opportunity to earn free assignment coupons and goodies to eat and drink.  Every student is required to get the ten points or they are not allowed to participate in our A.R. parties at the end of the nine weeks. They will also be required to do one book report every nine weeks!  Students will also read short stories, poetry, novels, etc., from our Holt Reading Series.  They will take Spelling/Vocabulary Tests every week.  They should have a list to study from by Monday, and their test will be on Friday of that same week. We will be reading two novels throughout the school year.  Those two novels are The Outsiders and The Pigman.
